Full Time Class 2 Driver and Furniture Removalist in Lower Hutt Wellington

Our Wellington branch, based in Alicetown-Lower Hutt, requires Drivers and Furniture Removalists for immediate start - Removals experience is preferred.

Duties include driving, professional packing, wrapping, stowing, loading/unloading of household personal effects. Devanning containers and deliveries.

There are full time and casual positions available, paid on an hourly rate. Hours of work are usually Monday to Friday between 7am-4pm some occasional out of town work may also be required.

* Class 2 licence preferred or Class 1 with a willingness to sit your Class 2 or Class 1 licence to drive a manual small truck

* You must be physically fit

* Work well in a team

* Clean, tidy and presentable appearance

The Auckland Branch Manager, reporting directly to the Managing Director, will provide day to day management of all onsite operations and oversee 30 staff.  The role is based in Rosedale on the North Shore.

The manager will be responsible for:

Sales/Exports & Imports Teams

  • Managing and working with staff and supervisors to ensure the smooth running of departments to meet all business obligations maintaining sales and service standards at all times. Along with compliance of MPI/Customs audit requirements, and customer service goals.

Operations

  • Overseeing the Operations Supervisor making sure operations are running efficiently, meeting client and agent obligations, training and health and safety requirements.

Financial/Administration

  • Monitoring overheads/expenditure to meet business requirements
  • Meeting KPI’s and revenue targets
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and growth of the branch improving market share and setting goals
  • Assisting the Managing Director and giving support to other Branch Managers as required.

HR/H&S

  • Working with the HR/H&S coordinator within Worksafe guidelines ensuring branch safety procedures, reporting and responsibilities are met. Following HR policies and processes for recruitment, performance reviews, management and supervision of staff.

To be successful, you will have proven experience in a management role within the logistics industry.

Shipping your personal belongings: your options

There are several options when it comes to shipping your personal belongings to Australia. When weighing up these options, consider the following:

  1. How much do you want to take?
  2. What's your budget?
  3. How fast do you want your goods to arrive?

 

FCL: for when you’re shipping a full household

Moving Personal Effects to AustraliaIf you are shipping a full household, you’ll probably need a sole-use container (FCL).

This is a faster way to ship as you’re not having to share the container with others. Once your container has been loaded, it will be sealed and delivered to the port for immediate shipping.

Transworld operates regular FCL shipping services to all ports in Australia.

Key benefits:

  1. More capacity: a full container can typically accommodate a complete household
  2. Faster shipping times: normally FCLs are loaded at clients' residence, delivered directly to the port and shipped on the first available vessel.

Groupage: for when you're happy to share

If you've got a small household, or just wanting to ship a few household items, groupage shipping is the answer.

This way you share a container with other clients moving to the same destination. Groupage is an economical way of shipping, as you only pay for the space you use.  

Keep in mind, this service may take a little longer while we wait to fill the container for your destination but it is a very cost effective option.

  1. Lower cost: pricing is based on the actual size of your shipment, so you only pay for the space your effects occupy in the container.
  2. Flexibility : giving you the freedom to decidehow much you want to ship, from a couple of boxes to a small household
  3. Ship all over Australia: we regularly ship groupage containers to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and can deliver to all parts of Australia. 

 

Air Freight: for when you want it extra fast

Australian Air FreightAir Freight is the fastest option, though the most expensive. Ideal if you’re not taking a lot, or for those extra items you’ll need soon after your arrival.

  1. Fastest option: air freight is the fastest way to get your effects to Australia
  2. Perfect for a few essential items: when you need them urgently
  3. Deliver anywhere in Australia: our air freight service covers all major cities in Australia

 

How long will shipping take?

Approximate door to door transit times, including packing and unpacking, are as follows:

  1. FCL: Allowing for Customs and quarantine delays at destination, typically shipping to Australia will take between 4 to 6 weeks
  2. Groupage: Because this is a shared container, shipping can take a little longer while we wait to fill the container. Transit times are approximately 6 to 8 weeks depending on your actual destination
  3. Air Freight: This is the fastest shipping option and usually takes up to 2 weeks

We take care of Quarantine and Customs formalities

Australian CustomsAs part of our door-to-door service, Transworld takes care of all Quarantine and Customs requirements in Australia.

Our team will manage all the necessary paperwork.

What we take care of:

  1. Quarantine inspection
  2. Supply you with the required Australian "Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement" for you to make your declaration
  3. If we have packed your shipment we compile an inventory of each item

 

What you need to do:

  1. Ensure that all your goods are free from contaminants
  2. Make sure that all garden tools, outdoor furniture, lawn mowers, bicycles, sporting equipment, shoes and boots are free of soil and seed contaminants
  3. Check that your vacuum cleaner is thoroughly cleaned, bag emptied and disposed of

 

What you can and can't ship to Australia

Prohibited and restricted items

Australian Prohibited & Restricted ImportsLike New Zealand, Australia has strict Customs and Quarantine rules. 

Items that can't be shipped include:

  1. Live plants
  2. Flammables such as matches, lighter fluids and aerosol cans
  3. Perishables such as meat products

Importing firearms and weapons into Australia

Firearms are subject to the Customs Regulations and require import approval prior to arrival in Australia.

You will need written permission from your local state or territory police firearms and weapons registry, who will provide you with the relevant form for completion – “Importation of Firearms – Police Confirmation and Certification”.

The importation of other types of weapons, including flick knives, daggers, swordsticks, knuckle dusters, replica guns, BB guns and unsafe firearms is prohibited.

 

Shipping cars & vehicles to Australia

Shipping Cars

If you're looking to ship your car, motorbike or other kind of vehicle to Australia from New Zealand, you'll need to apply for a Vehicle Import Approval, which is subject to certain requirements, including:

  1. The vehicle must have been owned and used by the applicant for at least 12 months
  2. The applicant must be an Australian citizen; or
  3. Have applied to be an Australian resident (e.g, hold a permanent visa); or
  4. Hold a visa that allows you to apply to become an Australian permanent resident (e.g, hold a temporary visa that lets you apply for a permanent visa); or
  5. Otherwise be entitled to remain in Australia indefinitely (e.g, a New Zealand citizen)
  6. All imported vehicles are subject to duty and GST

Taking pets to Australia

Here are some of the key things you need to know about taking dogs and cats to Australia:

  1. Your pet won't be held in quarantine if they've been in New Zealand for 90 days before shipping
  2. They must be more than two months old
  3. An Export Certificate is required
  4. All pets must be microchipped
