Shipping Overseas

When shipping overseas your goods will be individually wrapped and packed with our specialised international wrapping materials and/or boxes and then stowed into a container for shipping.

There are different methods of shipping your goods overseas, the following describes the most common.

FCL – Full Container Load

If you are shipping a full household you may use the whole container to yourself, there are 20ft and 40ft containers. With this service you have more choice of shipping dates and arrival dates at your destination country.

Depending on the access to your home and your street council approval, will depend on whether the container can come direct to your home for loading. Once loaded the container will be sealed and taken directly to the port for shipping to ensure a fast shipping time.

Depending on your destination country and access in your new home, your container can then be delivered directly to your residence for unloading. In some countries (including Australia), the container will be unloaded at our agents depot and then your goods will be delivered in a furniture truck.

Groupage / Shared Container

If you have a small or part household or just have one or two boxes, you can share the container with our other clients also moving to the same location, this is the most economical way of shipping and our most popular service. This service may take a little longer while we wait to fill the container to your destination but can be a very cost effective option.

Once at destination, the container will be unloaded at our agents depot and then delivered to your residence in a furniture truck or available to collect from the depot, depending on what service you require at your destination.

LCL – Less than Container Load

If regular Groupage/Shared Container services are not available to your destination country, then Transworld can offer an LCL service. Your effects will be internationally packed and wrapped and crated to house your effects as one unit in order for it to be shipped to your destination.

Air Freight

The cost of air freight is predominantly much more expensive. The price is based on the Volumetric Weight or Actual Weight, whichever is the greater, of the items you wish to send. Although much quicker in transit times, the cost needs to be considered against the urgency required to receive the goods.

Some of our clients will send a small shipment of essential items by airfreight whilst waiting for their sea freight to arrive with the rest of their effects.

Transworld look forward to discussing your specific requirements and to advise the service options for your needs to suit your time frame, budget and destination.
